Family Literacy Day

Family Literacy Day brought together students, families, and nearly 20 community partners for a vibrant morning centered on the joy and power of reading. From the moment families arrived on campus, the focus was clear — this was a celebration of language, learning, and the vital role parents play as their children’s first teachers.

The morning featured a special author read-aloud that captured the attention and imagination of our students while modeling the importance of reading aloud at home. Across campus, partner-hosted booths offered engaging literacy-based activities, resources, and hands-on experiences designed to make learning interactive and accessible for the entire family.

A meaningful book giveaway ensured that many of our students went home with new books to add to their personal libraries — reinforcing the habit of daily reading and helping families continue learning beyond the classroom. A bike giveaway added an extra layer of excitement and celebration!

While popcorn, snow cones, and raffles added energy and fun throughout the event, literacy remained at the heart of every interaction. Family Literacy Day is a powerful reminder that when families are equipped with the tools and confidence to support learning at home, children thrive.

We are deeply grateful to our community partners who showed up with intention and enthusiasm. Because of their support, our families experienced literacy in a way that felt welcoming, empowering, and celebratory.
