Inspiring Words from a Bright Beginning Student

Eba’s Speech at our 2024 Hearts of Grace

Hello, my name is Eba. I was born in Texas, but I grew up in Mexico. When I moved to the United States in 2005, I realized the importance of learning English to communicate, and it became my primary focus until I had my daughters. That’s when I discovered Grace Place.

The decision to enroll in Grace Place in 2022 has been the best one I’ve ever made. My twin girls, Alessandra and Alexa, who are four years old, serve as my daily inspiration to continue learning.

Both my daughters are enrolled in the VPK program at Grace Place, and initially, we faced significant separation anxiety. Grace Place played a pivotal role in helping my family establish a healthy separation routine. While I cherish my daughters, there are times when I need to reflect and connect with other moms.

Occasionally, I feel overwhelmed, questioning my abilities as a mother. The influence of the teachers at Grace Place provides invaluable support. In Miss Michele’s class last year, I learned to build my confidence, raise my hand, and ask questions. This year, my focus is on improving my grammar, pronunciation and English skills.

I’ve come to understand that children require time, and their needs must be met. Grace Place has taught me that seeking help as mothers to understand and meet our children’s needs is entirely acceptable. The most crucial aspect is to take care of ourselves to better care for others.

The process of learning English breaks down barriers, which allows to recognize my potential skills. The opportunity to acquire new knowledge opens my mind, facilitating personal growth and enabling me to shine with my own light.

I want to express my deep gratitude to all the donors and volunteers who made these programs possible. Without your support, the dreams of all the students, including mine, would be impossible to accomplish. As a community, we can see the opportunities that surround us. This program guides us toward success as mothers and provides our children with the wings to embark on their own journeys.

Thank you, Grace Place, for the incredible opportunity you’ve provided for me and my twins. I currently feel proud of overcoming challenges with my English, building confidence, and managing anxiety when leaving my daughters. Simultaneously, it aids my children in developing their own confidence and skills in various areas. I’m thrilled to witness how eager my daughters come to school, learn new things, and share experiences with their friends and teachers.

Thank you!
