Field Trip to the Farm

Our Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) students recently enjoyed a hands-on field trip to Farmer Mike’s U-Pick in Bonita Springs, where learning truly came to life outside the classroom.

Throughout the visit, students explored the farm and had the opportunity to see firsthand how fruits and vegetables are grown, cared for, and harvested. They walked through the fields, observed different crops up close, and learned about the journey food takes from the farm to our tables. One of the highlights of the day was getting to pick fresh fruit right from the plants and enjoy it on the spot, a simple but memorable experience that connected them directly to what they were learning.

The experience was filled with excitement and curiosity as students engaged all their senses in a new learning environment. From seeing plants in various stages of growth to tasting freshly picked fruit, the trip sparked meaningful conversations and plenty of “aha” moments.

It was a fun, memorable day that not only reinforced classroom lessons but also helped stu dents build a deeper appreciation for where their food comes from and the world around them.
