Summer Students Prepare for Kindergarten
This summer, Grace Place’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program welcomed a vibrant group of young learners to a full-day experience designed to balance academics with play. Our summer VPK focused on helping students build foundational skills they need to succeed in kindergarten.
Children practiced fine motor skills like cutting and drawing, strengthening the hand coordination essential for writing. They explored early literacy through reading and writing exercises, and story time, building vocabulary and comprehension. Math readiness was reinforced with activities around patterns, counting, and problem-solving. Alongside these academic lessons, our teachers incorporated hands-on games, creative arts, and outdoor play to foster curiosity and engagement.
Throughout the program, our dedicated teachers created a nurturing environment where each child felt supported and encouraged. Small class sizes allowed for personalized attention, helping students build social skills, independence, and a love for learning. Parents were also engaged through regular updates and opportunities to participate, strengthening the home-school connection that’s so vital for early success.
As summer wrapped up, we celebrated our students’ growth and readiness with excitement and pride. Thanks to this enriching experience, these young learners have graduated from VPK and are off to kindergarten with the skills, confidence, and enthusiasm they need for a bright academic journey ahead.
