After-School In Action

Our first After-School in Action event was a wonderful success, offering guests a meaningful, behind-the-scenes look at Grace Place in action. Community members had the opportunity to step directly into our classrooms, meet our dedicated teachers, and connect with the incredible students who bring our programs to life each day.
The afternoon began with guided tours led by our Chief Program Officer, Marcie Curry, who walked guests through each of our programs and explained how they work together to support students and families. The tour included stops in our elementary, middle school, and high school programs, giving visitors a firsthand look at how education is transforming lives at every stage. In our elementary classrooms, guests supported literacy tutoring, working alongside students as they strengthened their reading skills. In middle school, visitors explored our Choice Academies, experiencing the hands-on, career-focused learning that helps students discover their interests and build confidence for the future.

At the high school level, participants spent time helping students practice conversational English — an important skill that builds communication, academic success, and long-term opportunity. These one-on-one interactions created powerful moments of encouragement and connection.
After-School in Action is designed to move beyond observation. It invites our community to experience our mission firsthand — not just by seeing our programs, but by engaging directly with the students we serve.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us, invested their time, and walked alongside our students. Your presence made a difference, and together, we witnessed the impact of education in motion.
