Empowering Students for the School Year Ahead

On Saturday, Grace Place welcomed Golden Gate families for our annual Back to School Bash, providing students with the supplies they need to start the school year prepared and confident.

While heavy summer rains forced us to shorten the event, our dedicated staff, volunteers, ambassadors, and community partners quickly adapted to ensure local families still received essential back-to-school resources.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, more than 800 backpacks filled with school supplies were available for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Despite the challenging weather, more than 500 children and family members attended the event, braving the rain to prepare for the upcoming school year, and more than 650 backpacks were distributed.

With additional backpacks still available for pickup, the support continues beyond event day, ensuring even more students will have the tools they need to start the school year ready to learn.

In addition to receiving backpacks, families enjoyed free books to help encourage a love of reading and educational success at home. Our friends from JCPenney generously provided complimentary haircuts, helping students feel confident and ready for their first day of school.

We are grateful to every volunteer, donor, ambassador, and community partner who helped make this year’s Back to School Bash possible. Their support ensures that local students have the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

The shortened event served as a powerful reminder of the determination of the Golden Gate community. Rain may have changed our plans, but it could not dampen the spirit of families coming together to prepare their children for a successful school year. Together, we’re helping students start the school year ready to succeed—rain or shine.
