Celebrating Family Literacy Day

This year, our annual Family Literacy Day, an event to bring families together and celebrate the importance of reading, learning, and community engagement, was out of this world! Thanks to a fun and engaging space theme, imaginations were sparked, and smiles were shared by over 200 attendees.

Held on our campus, Family Literacy Day featured a variety of exciting activities for children and families alike. We were thrilled to partner with many incredible local organizations, including the Healthcare Network, CCSO, The Healthy Earth Organization, Naples Botanical Gardens, United Arts Collier, and local branches from Schwab, Fifth Third Bank, and First Horizon Bank. Together, we created a day filled with hands-on crafts, interactive learning, and opportunities for families to connect with community resources.

Highlights of the day included our craft stations, where children could create their own launching rocket ships or name a new alien friend, a telescope demonstration, face painting, games, and a read-aloud. Thanks to a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Naples Bay, we were able to give away over 90 pairs of new children’s shoes. Additionally, we gave away dozens of books, helping to foster a love for reading and ensure that all families had something new to enjoy at home. Whether it was a picture book or a chapter book, these books provided opportunities for learning and bonding beyond the event.

Overall, Family Literacy Day was a huge success, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our community partners and the amazing Grace Place families. It was a beautiful day of learning, fun, and connection, reminding us of the importance of family literacy and the power of reading. We look forward to making next year’s Family Literacy Day even bigger and better! Thank you to everyone who joined us, volunteered, and donated their time and resources to make this event a reality.
