Giving Tuesday Now,
celebrating our #GracePlaceHeroes

Karen, Kim, kathy and Melanie in food pantryFaced with the fear of the unknown amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, communities around the world have continued to come together for one another, bringing hope to many. Our Grace Place community is no different.

Teachers and program staff have spent days and weeks constructing new materials in new formats for online instruction. They continue to spend time answering questions, working with students, and communicating with parents. Volunteers and staff members are putting themselves on the front lines to distribute emergency food supplies to a growing number of families in need each week. Individuals and groups have generously given resources to make our continued work possible. You are all heroes to us.

Today is GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of unity. We want to take this day to celebrate those who have come forward to help their neighbors and community by recognizing some of our #GracePlaceHeroes. But this doesn’t end today, we will continue to acknowledge our heroes over the following weeks, stay tuned to our blog and social media pages for updates.

Our first #GracePlaceHeroes recognized today have become quite the team over the last few weeks. Karen, Kathy, Melanie, and Kim have been volunteers at Grace Place for years, but they have recently stepped into new roles helping to safely distribute food to over 300 people every week.

After Grace Place educational programs pivoted to an online platform, classroom volunteers were left to find new ways to stay involved. Our food pantry, an essential operation, and a critical resource to so many families in our community, needed help more than ever to remain open and safely serve our community. These ladies stepped forward, and they’re doing more than distributing food.

They have rallied their friends to make masks for volunteers, staff, and clients. They have collected non-perishable food items to supplement our pantry. While they have each taken on new roles during a time of crises, one thing has remained the same – their commitment and dedication to Grace Place. They are heroes and change makers.

Thank you, Karen, Kathy, Kim, and Melanie. You are all #GracePlaceHeroes!
