Nourishing Families, Strengthening Community
At Grace Place, we know that access to nutritious food is essential for children to learn, grow, and thrive. Twice each month, our Family Food Distribution program helps ensure that local families have access to the grocery items and household staples they need to put healthy meals on the table.
Held on the second and fourth Thursday of every month, the Family Food Distribution provides food assistance to families participating in our educational programs. The program serves families in two shifts, allowing us to reach children and caregivers across multiple age groups and schedules.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., families enrolled in our Bright Beginnings program receive food boxes and fresh
vegetables. A second distribution takes place from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. for families with children participating in our elementary program.
Each food box is generously donated by Harriet Chapman and filled with grocery items supplied by the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Families receive a variety of canned goods, pantry staples, fresh produce, and other nutritious food items that help stretch household budgets and provide reliable access to healthy meals.

The success of each distribution depends on the dedication of our volunteers. Volunteers assist with every aspect of the program, including moving food boxes, distributing food and fresh vegetables, registering families, riding the bus to assist participants, and helping with breakdown and cleanup after each event. Their commitment ensures that every family is welcomed with dignity and care.
More than a food distribution, this program is an opportunity to strengthen connections within our community. By helping families meet basic needs, we create a stronger foundation for children to focus on learning, achievement, and future success.
We are grateful to Harriet Chapman, the Harry Chapin Food Bank, and our incredible volunteers for helping make this program possible. Together, we are ensuring that families have access to nutritious food while building a community where every child and family can thrive.
