Preparing Students for a Strong Start in VPK at Grace Place
A strong start can shape a student’s entire academic journey.
This summer, Grace Place is strengthening that foundation through Rising VPK, a targeted program designed to help students prepare for entry into our Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten classrooms this fall. VPK is a state-funded program that prepares four-year-olds for kindergarten, making readiness at this stage an important milestone.
Students in Rising VPK were identified through assessments within our Bright Beginnings program as needing additional support in early literacy skills, particularly letter recognition. These are students already learning at Grace Place, and Rising VPK ensures they continue building the skills needed for success as they move into their next classroom.
Through focused instruction and consistent practice, students are gaining the confidence and readiness to enter Grace Place’s VPK program prepared to learn. When children begin school with a strong foundation, they are more likely to stay on track academically from the very start.
Programs like Rising VPK are an important step in building long-term success for students and their families.
