Summer Students Prepare for Kindergarten

This summer, Grace Place’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program welcomed a vibrant group of young learners to a full-day experience designed to balance academics with play. Young children didn’t just gain foundational skills for kindergarten—they discovered their potential.

With every cut, scribble, story, and counting game, they grew not only in skill but in confidence. Children practiced fine motor skills like cutting and drawing, explored early literacy through reading and writing exercises, and strengthened math readiness with activities around counting, patterns, and problem-solving. Alongside these lessons, hands-on games, creative arts, and outdoor play sparked curiosity, built resilience, and made learning joyful.

The magic went beyond academics. Proud smiles after writing their name for the first time, laughter echoing from the playground, and quiet moments of encouragement reminded each child: you are capable, and you are ready. Surrounded by nurturing teachers and joyful peers, students also developed social skills, independence, and a love for learning, with small class sizes allowing for personalized attention. Parents stayed engaged through regular updates and participation opportunities, reinforcing the vital home-school connection.

As summer wrapped up, we celebrated our students’ growth and readiness with excitement and pride. Thanks to this enriching experience, these young learners have graduated from VPK and are off to kindergarten with the skills, confidence, and enthusiasm they need for a bright academic journey ahead.
