Building Big Skills with Our Littlest Learners
This summer, our rising VPK students—preschoolers who are gearing up to enter our Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program this fall—have been hard at work… playing! But at Grace Place, play is serious business.
Our rising VPK students attend with their parents, laying the groundwork for a strong school-to-home connection. Together, they participate in hands-on activities designed to build the foundational skills needed for a successful start in kindergarten.
Take a recent classroom favorite: students used tweezers to move colorful pom poms and pieces of dried pasta from one container to another. It may look simple, but this playful task strengthens the fine motor muscles and hand-eye coordination that young learners will soon use for writing, cutting, and other key classroom activities.
Every activity is thoughtfully designed to support school readiness—while keeping things fun and engaging for both kids and caregivers. At Grace Place, we know that learning starts small, but its impact is lifelong.
