Grace Place Girls Shine at Girls on the Run

This spring, the girls of Grace Place proved that running is about so much more than just crossing the finish line—it’s about confidence, connection, and courage.

Grace Place had an absolute blast participating in the Girls on the Run of Southwest Florida program, and our energetic team of 3rd–5th grade girls brought their full hearts to the experience. From the very first warm-up to the final mile of their 5K, these young runners showed what it means to support one another and grow stronger together.

Each week, the girls gathered to do more than just train—they practiced positive self-talk, strengthened their leadership skills, and learned how to be compassionate teammates. Their dedication culminated in a practice 5K held right on campus, where classmates and teachers turned out in full force to cheer them on. It was a beautiful reminder that building a strong community starts with lifting one another up.

In the days leading up to the big event, the excitement grew. The girls channeled their creativity into designing custom t-shirts—each one a burst of personality and pride, just like the girls who wore them. The vibrant colors and encouraging messages made it clear: they were ready for race day.

And what a race day it was! On April 26, our Girls on the Run team gathered with their families, friends, and mentors for a 5K celebration they’ll never forget. Each girl ran alongside a Grace Place teacher, staff member, or volunteer, forming a buddy system that emphasized the strength of support and the joy of togetherness. Families lined the course, cheering with signs, smiles, and hugs, reminding every runner that she is never alone.

As each girl crossed the finish line, she did so with pride—and with a deeper belief in her own power. The 5K wasn’t just the end of the season; it was a celebration of everything they’d accomplished and everything they’re capable of becoming.

To our runners: We are so proud of you. You didn’t just run a race—you ran toward your brightest future.
