Changing the Story, One Chapter at a Time
Every student who walks through the doors of Grace Place begins a unique journey. Some arrive speaking little English. Others need support preparing for school or achieving their academic goals. What connects them all is opportunity, encouragement, and a pathway to success.
The stories featured in our Summer 2026 Newsletter demonstrate how education changes lives, from early learners building foundational skills to college graduates pursuing lifelong dreams.
Big Dreams, Bigger Pitches
At this year’s Entrepreneurship Showcase, Grace Place high school students presented original business ideas to local business leaders and entrepreneurs.
One team, Chery and Jesus, proposed an app designed to help English language learners improve pronunciation and confidence. Inspired by their own experiences, their presentation showcased creativity, critical thinking, and leadership.
Beyond business concepts, students gained valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, and public speaking, preparing them for future success in college, careers, and beyond.
Finding Her Voice
When Emma arrived in Naples from Argentina at age five, she spoke no English and faced the challenge of starting school in a new country.
With consistent support from Grace Place teachers, she developed strong literacy skills and confidence. By the end of first grade, Emma scored in the 98th percentile in reading and math and successfully transitioned out of her school’s English Language Learner program.
Now entering third grade, Emma loves reading, excels in school, and dreams of becoming an artist, writer, or singer.
Driven by Determination
Eleven years ago, Adriana arrived in the United States from Haiti speaking very little English. This year, she graduated from Florida International University and is pursuing her dream of becoming a pediatrician.

After joining Grace Place in sixth grade, Adriana found academic support, mentorship, and a community that encouraged her to dream bigger. She later earned a donor-funded full-ride college scholarship and has remained actively involved as a volunteer, mentor, and advocate.
Her journey reflects the life-changing impact of education, opportunity, and support.
Ready for Kindergarten
When Spencer joined Grace Place’s Summer VPK program, he knew only a handful of letters and was hesitant to engage with classmates.
Through literacy-rich learning experiences and caring instruction, Spencer gained the skills and confidence he needed to succeed. By summer’s end, he could confidently identify all 26 uppercase and lowercase letters and entered kindergarten ready to thrive.
His story illustrates why early learning matters and how Grace Place helps children begin school prepared for success.
The Next Chapter
This summer also marks an exciting new chapter for Grace Place.
Through a transformational partnership with the Naples Children’s Foundation, Grace Place will expand its nationally recognized Bright Beginnings Family Literacy program to additional sites across Collier County and open a new early learning center at Naples Park Elementary.
This expansion will help address the county’s shortage of early learning opportunities while ensuring more children and families have access to the education and support they need to thrive.
