Grace Place worked with a community partner to serve as a conduit between an exciting new opportunity and our students. Chuck Garrity, a long time Grace Place enthusiast, recently visited campus to present two MicroGrants to select Grace Place alums.
Yazmin Hinojosa, a single mother of two, has been involved with Grace Place for many years. She completed the Bright Beginnings program with her son, and now is a Mom Mentor. Yazmin credits Grace Place for helping her learn English and “how to be a better mom.” In partnership with MicroGrants, Yazmin can now achieve her dream of completing her education to become a Medical Assistant.
The second recipient, a recent high school graduate, was one of our accomplished AP Leaders and is a current volunteer, Martine Martineau. Martine was accepted to Florida Atlantic University this year. MicroGrants will allow Martine to purchase the books and materials necessary for her to best prepare for her college experience. We are so proud of both of these young women for their hard work towards accomplishing their academic aspirations. We are also very grateful to MicroGrants and Chuck Garrity for enabling us to connect our students with such a wonderful opportunity.
