IRA Charitable Rollover
Unlock the power of your retirement savings to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families in need through an IRA Charitable Rollover donation to Grace Place. By directing a portion of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) to support our mission, you can enjoy significant tax benefits while making a meaningful difference in your community.
Reduce Your Taxes While Increasing Your Impact
If you’re 70 ½ years of age or older with a traditional individual retirement account (IRA), you can amplify your support for Grace Place through an IRA Charitable Rollover Gift. Despite recent changes to tax laws*, owners of traditional IRAs can still leverage this opportunity to make qualified charitable distributions of up to $100,000 in a calendar year.
With an IRA Charitable Rollover, you can:
- Directly contribute from your IRA to Grace Place.
- Fulfill part or all of your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA, while excluding that distribution from your Federal taxable gross income.
- Make an immediate impact on today’s students by renewing or increasing your annual gift through your IRA Charitable Rollover.
For your gift to qualify:
- You must be 70 ½ years of age or older at the time of your gift.
- The transfer must be made from your IRA directly to Grace Place.
- Your total annual IRA Charitable Rollover gift(s) cannot exceed $100,000 in the calendar year of the gift.
- Your gift to Grace Place must be completed by December 31 in the year you decide to make the gift.
- Your gift must be outright. Gifts from your IRA to donor-advised funds or life-income vehicles such as charitable gift annuities or charitable remainder trusts do not qualify as IRA Charitable Rollover gifts
Making your gift is easy:
Before December 31 of this year:
- Contact your IRA custodian.
- Ask that your distribution be a charitable rollover to Grace Place.
- To ensure that we can promptly and accurately credit your gift, ask them to include your name, address and how you would like the gift allocated in the transfer.
Distributions can be mailed to:

Support Grace Place by Naming Us as a Beneficiary of Your IRA
Consider designating Grace Place as a beneficiary of part or all of your retirement account through a charitable bequest. This method offers a tax-efficient way to support our mission from your estate. By naming Grace Place as a beneficiary, you may reduce or eliminate federal estate and income taxes associated with your retirement account upon your passing.
With the changes brought by the SECURE Act, which limits the ability to defer income taxes on retirement accounts, making a charitable bequest of your retirement assets to Grace Place is now an even more appealing option.
For further details on IRA Charitable Rollovers or how to designate Grace Place as a beneficiary of your retirement assets, please contact us at 239-255-7219.
*The SECURE Act increased the age when required minimum distributions (RMD) apply from age 70 1/2 to age 72. Benefactors can still begin making IRA charitable rollovers at age 70 ½.
