1As you may know, Grace Place is a volunteer driven organization. This means we rely on our generous change makers to help in our mission to provide pathways out of poverty by educating children and families. As a small recognition of these amazing people, we will be highlighting individuals once a month in a new “Meet a Change Maker” section of our e-news blasts and blog.

We begin with Lisa Connors. A three year veteran of the Grace Place team, Lisa volunteers in our Mom and Tot Literacy program, a course within our early childhood education program Bright Beginnings. Lisa was motivated to volunteer at Grace Place when she heard our executive director, Stephanie Campbell, speak at her church. “I am especially impressed with Grace Place’s efforts to help children read, I know it will benefit children’s lives forever! I have 7 grandchildren and I miss spending time with them, I thought this would be a great opportunity to spend time with little ones,” commented Lisa.

In the Mom and Tot Literacy program Lisa works with Grace Place staff to provide a language-rich environment while guiding children in appropriate learning activities to develop their visual-motor/adaptive skills, language and cognition, gross motor skills, social skills, parental separation skills and classroom routines and behavior skills.
