“A mother is not a person to lean on but a person to make leaning unnecessary.”

-Dorothy Canfield Fisher

Grace Place has seen many graduations in the last two weeks.  We graduated 210 K-8th grade students from our Academy of Leaders after-school program, 20 high school AP Leadership students, 200 Beginnings 101 students, 50 Mom and Tot Literacy students and 150 Adult English Language and Literacy students.  Today we highlight the 80 Beginnings 101 moms and 120 children who completed the program this year. These dedicated moms put in the work to learn how they could provide a solid educational foundation for their child to build on. Mothers attended class on providing a language-rich environment, engaging and interactive learning, brain development, social skills and preliteracy skills. While parents were in class, children participated in developmentally appropriate learning activities, guided exploration, art and storytelling, led by a skilled teacher and designed to promote interactive learning, classroom readiness skills, and socialization skills.
